It´s the zone where breaking waves occur on the coast, where the waves´ energy shapes its shores.
Which animals live in the surf zone?
A great variety of marine fauna is found in this zone, such as sea snails, clams, barnacles, goose neck barnacles, chitons, sea urchins and starfish.
What is the environmental importance of the surf zone?
It is home to a wide range of marine species, and a shelter zone for the larvae of some species of fish and crustaceans.
