It is a basibont, meaning that other living creatures live on top of it.

It´s the Sea Snail´s (Plicopurpura pansa, protected species) favorite food, but is also served at some restaurants.

It has an oval shape with a segmented armor formed by hard plates that protect this organism. Underneath, it has a muscular foot and bivalves that help it stick to the rocks where it lives. They are of an olive green to a brown color.

They are frequently found in surf zones.

They feed on organic waste, even though for a long time it was thought that they were herbivores.
