Fun facts
Males of this species have very marked hierarchies among different types of males.
Their eggs look like purple patches on the rocks.
Juveniles of this species have been observed cleaning other fish, such as the Striped Red Mullet, Longfin Halfbeak and Needlefish.
General aspects
This fish has large and rough scales on its body and on most part of its head. It´s of a whitish-green or pale silver color, with 5 black stripes on the side and a bright yellow back.
Adults live in rocky and coral reefs, and swim in large schools in warm waters.
It feeds on plankton, benthic invertebrates and the algae found on reefs.
