Fun facts
They generaly move in shoals and can submerge to a depth of up to 98 feet, which is uncommon for this type of fish. The are distributed from the Gulf of California to El Salvador, including the Revillagigedo Islands.
General aspects
It´s body has an oval, compressed shape, and is gray with small black specks and two dark stripes on its head. Its tail is yellow, and its mouth is small and protruding. It lives in coastal seabeds, close to reefs.
It feeds on benthic microalgae and macroalgae, as well as seaweeds.
