How important is the Sea of Cortez?
The Sea of Cortez or Gulf of California is an area that, due to its climate and availability of resources, has become the preferred place for many animals to feed and reproduce. The explorer Jacques Cousteau named it "the aquarium of the world".
Why do we seek the conservation of our oceans?
Many conservation programs have focused on the oceans because they are our main source of oxygen, help regulate the climate and provide us with food.
What can we do at home to take care of our seas?
We can all help to conserve these important places, with actions such as reducing the use of plastics, reducing the use of electricity and avoiding leaving trash behind when we visit the beach. Inside the Great Aquarium you can learn more about how we can work together to have a healthier, more vibrant ocean.
