Fun facts
By constantly feeding on algae in its territory, it helps regulate its growth and improve the reef´s productivity.
It is an endemic fish, and one of the most abundant along the Mexican Pacific coast.
General aspects
Compressed, oval body. Adult´s body is dark brown and its head is pale. Juveniles are bright blue with a couple of neon blue lines on the top of their head. They have a black stain on their dorsal fin.
They live on shallow rocky reefs in the surf zone.
They are omnivores, eating a little bit of everything.
