They practically disappear once the water temperature comes down to 80°F.
They have a unique way of moving up and down when they use their pectoral fins. Come and see them!
There are two types of males and two reproductive systems, and sometimes, females can transform themselves into males.
General aspects
Thin and elongated body. Both males and females have a striped body with a yellow and a greenish-blue band, one yellow and one red line, and a white belly.
Another type of male has a dark blue head, a wide yellow band behind its head, a blue tail, purple body and yellow pectoral fins.
It lives in aggregations in and around rocky and coral reefs, as well as in intertidal pools.
It feeds on plankton and small invertebrates.
