Females emit an electric field that males can perceive.

They usually spawn 6 live offspring and juveniles remain close to the water´s edge, where there are fewer predators.
General aspects
It is a round disc ray, slightly wider than it is long; smooth light brown or reddish-brown skin, with dense, dark brown spots.
It lives in sandy and muddy ocean and swamp floors.
It feeds on invertebrates on the seabed and small fish.
