It is highly sought after in sport fishing. The largest ever caught was 1.63m and the heaviest was almost 52kg.
General aspects
Elongated body and pointed head. First dorsal fin has 7 very long spines that fold into a groove when the fin is lowered. It is bluish-gray with silver highlights and black bars.
It lives in shallow coastal areas, likes sandy shores and forms schools of fish.
Eats small fish.
